Growing case management business expands even further

Breakthrough Case Management adds nine new people to its team, with further recruitment and development planned

A leading case management and complex care provider has made a raft of new appointments to help support its national expansion and ongoing growth.

Breakthrough Case Management has recruited seven more case managers, adding further to its team of specialist healthcare professionals who support individuals and families to rebuild their lives after life-changing injury.

The seven case managers - one of whom will be the firm’s new clinical lead - add further to Breakthrough’s ability to support clients across England, and also see it move into Scotland for the first time.

And to support its ongoing growth, Breakthrough has also recruited into their Commercial  team and a new Care Quality and Corporate Governance lead as part of the 2024 strategy to develop the business and the service it delivers.

Additionally, in an internal promotion, Natasha Brailey has become Breakthrough’s new Registered Manager.

The new appointments will help to underpin plans for further growth of the business, which is rated as Outstanding by CQC. Recruitment of case managers is ongoing, as Breakthrough seeks to continue to build further in the coming months.

Concentrating on the South West region when it was established in 2018, Breakthrough has significantly broadened its geographical reach, supporting clients across the country after life-changing traumatic injury.

In addition to the specialist rehabilitation it enables clients to access, Breakthrough also delivers packages of care - a combination of services which is proving invaluable to commissioners, with the assurance that both are delivered by a top-rated provider.

Annabelle Lofthouse, Chief Executive of Breakthrough, says: “This is a very exciting time for Breakthrough, and our plans for growth mark a new phase for us as a business.

“We have built a strong and respected reputation in the past five years and we are now keen to develop our presence even further. We are strengthening our presence in key locations including London and Birmingham, and are moving into Scotland for the first time.

“These are really key milestones for us in our development as an ambitious case management and care provider, which will enable us to continue to deliver the highest quality of client service as our caseload continues to grow.”

In a series of new case management appointments, Breakthrough has added:

  • Maeve Dillon - a paediatric nurse by background, Maeve has wide-ranging experience across children’s nursing, alongside paediatric care and therapy provision
  • Kate Morgan - Kate is the new clinical lead at Breakthrough and has a background in paediatric nursing, where she has worked in a variety of NHS environments, including A&E, critical care nursing and palliative care. Based in the South West, she is adept at successfully managing complex cases
  • Dr Simone Neil - Simone is a qualified GP with experience of working in both private and NHS frontline healthcare. She supports clients across Central and Greater London
  • Helen Olaonipekun - a nurse with extensive experience of working in NHS healthcare, Helen was most recently a staff nurse in a busy emergency department of a London hospital
  • Neesha Patel - Neesha, based in Birmingham, is a senior physiotherapist with more than 13 years’ experience of working in NHS Trusts in frontline healthcare
  • Vanaja Rama - with 25 years’ experience as an occupational therapist and a background in expert reporting, Vanaja has worked in both South Africa and the UK and is accomplished in complex rehabilitation
  • Tamsin Rees Jones - Tamsin, based in Scotland, has 13 years’ experience as an occupational therapist, with a decade working in the assessment and treatment of children, particularly in the specialist fields of polytrauma, neurosurgery, neurology and rehabilitation

On the operational side, Breakthrough has also recruited:

  • Charmaine Killingrey as Care Quality and Corporate Governance Lead, a role which sees her ensure all services commit to a quality improvement culture and adhere to statutory regulations, while also leading on data security and data protection
  • Tracey Williams as Commercial Manager, building on her background of over 30 years of working in commercial and business development roles, primarily within healthcare. She will lead on service development, relationship management and operational strategy.

Annabelle says: “Recruitment in healthcare is hugely challenging, particularly in an organisation like ours which has built such a strong reputation and has worked so hard to secure a CQC Outstanding rating - but we are fortunate to be able to add such a significant number of excellent case managers to our team, all of whom arrive with excellent track records in their respective fields.

“Our internal processes are also vitally important, and to be able to strengthen those too with the addition of two new key appointments, supported by a new Registered Manager, is also a very positive step forward.

“Our recruitment is ongoing, as the level of cases and enquiries we are receiving means that we need to continue to grow our team and add ambitious new case managers - at Breakthrough, every member of the team, no matter where they are based around the country, is supported and valued, with their wellbeing a priority to us from the outset.

“We are delighted to take this big step forward in our development. The absolute priority of the whole Breakthrough team is the care and rehabilitation being delivered to our clients, and that will continue to remain at our heart as we grow.”
